Třiadvacet týmů se loni v listopadu sjelo do Bassens u Bordeaux na juniorský evropský šampionát. Českou výpravu narychlo doplnil jedenáctiletý Vojtěch Bílek, který nahradil nemocného Vojtu Žiaka.
Hlavní trojici mladíků s ročníkem narození 1997-1998 tvořili Jan Charvát(Fenyx Adamov)Lubomír Srnský a Lukáš Michalička (oba 1. KPK Vrchlabí).
Pětikolový švýcar se hrál s limitem 75 minut. Do skupin postupovalo dvanáct týmů, zbývajících jedenáct čekal Pohár národů.
